NCO…THE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME

The central goal of the educational initiative associated with the National Chimpanzee Observatory will be to inspire students of all levels towards careers in science.

By drawing students into science through their natural attraction to chimpanzees and other animals, the National Chimpanzee Observatory offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to expose students to the scientific process through outreach, research and museum components, leaving many of them forever hooked on science.

High school curricula across Louisiana and the South could be tailored to introduce students to animal behavior, psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, and health informatics — fields which are of vital necessity in solving the next generation of social problems such as social aggression, violence, autism, cognitive rehabilitation, and Alzheimer’s and other forms of senile dementia.

Internships for both high school and college students will be offered through the public attraction, museum, and research components, and will attract thousands of applicants from across the US, Canada, Central and South America, and Europe annually.
